Only released last February 2026,
the movie is now available on a popular streaming platform. With all the hype
and clamor surrounding this film, I dedicated one weekend to watch this. It
falls under the “this is not your typical love story” trope which presents the
10-year journey of a couple presented in a non-linear manner where the present
is shown in black and white and the past in multi-color. I thought it would be
the other way around but we all know that the relationship was doomed to fail
that’s why they did it that way.
And the thing is, it mirrors reality and
everyone can relate to it. Those things every committed man and woman go
through. The search for one’s growth while also growing with someone beside
you. Every problem, every triumph that resonates with everybody. Themes about
time, communication, career, commitment and affairs.
The audience is now left with the
question, “Is 10 years not enough for them to stay”? The main actors gave
justice to their roles and characters. They were believable that probably most
of those who watched, considered the film as a push, a final straw for their
own relationship, hence the news of people breaking up over this.
There is this line that struck me
the most: “Dahil ako ang mas nagmahal, ako lagi ang naghihintay”. To put and
translate it, “Since I am the one who loved more, I am the one who always
waits”. Between the two, who actually loved more? Is love quantifiable? Is love
enough? Did they make the right decision? Does it even matter?
Putting myself in their shoes, I am
divided in whether to fight or to let go of the relationship. I am giving this an
8 out of 10 (since it’s a thought-proving film). Have you watched it? Which
side are you on?
