Movie Review: Incredibles 2

I actually wanted to get tickets for an animation that is the Incredibles 2 movie to break the run of live films we’ve watched for the past months thinking that it would be relaxing and stress-free to watch. But I was wrong. While little kids and children tag along with their adult companions, this has more depth and dimension and a darker theme that you could ever imagine for a cartoon on top of graphics and effects that have become better over time (with the first one being shown in 2004).

The plot of Incredibles 2 is similar to what other superhero movies appear to be. It delves whether these champions should be legal or not as they are asked to hold back their powers and live normal lives because they are creating more damage than good whilst saving the world.  As hackneyed as probably the last films you’ve witnessed, this is still fun and enjoyable to watch.

The re-appearance of Tony Rydinger (Violet’s love interest) and Edna Mode (the fashion designer of the Parr’s hero costumes) added some jest and lighted things up in the cinema. Jack-Jack’s (the youngest son of the Parr family) multi-superpower revelation is trying to be everything all at once. A new set of characters were also presented but somehow lacked the spotlight they needed. The villain may come off as predictable since the crime fighting scenes were too easy. But knowing where the antagonist is coming from, well who could argue? Do we need to put our lives in the hands of heroes or mind the situation on our own? Do we need heroes to protect us or should we learn how to take care of anything that comes on our own?

It tackles gender switch at home which is a very relatable and a very sensitive issue that the society now faces –who stays at home and do the household stuff and who goes out and takes part in the labor force. The first film focused on Mr. Incredible while the second one highlighted Elastigirl who was commissioned to be at the forefront of the mission to change the perspective of the people about superheroes. A very timely topic since this was shown on the week of Father’s Day here in the country. I like how they presented it in a way that there is nothing wrong who does what. There will always be pros and cons (parenting, sacrifices, milestones) to both but as long as the family is bonded then by all means go for the one that works.

Overall, this movie did not disappoint. It will surely move you with its mix of humor, drama, adventure and of course family dynamics. This is a 9.5 for me. You may also want to check this out: http://geekatana.blogspot.com/2018/06/the-incredibles-2-non-spoiler-review.html
