A Taste of Paris in Manila: Laduree

I must tell myself to stop eating sweets as it has taken a toll on my weight gain already. But how can you resist splurging a little to have a taste of Paris here in Manila. Laduree is a high-end pâtisserie famous for their macarons (yep, you read that right; you should not confuse it with macaroons). To differentiate the two: macaroons are like golden brown cakes with an indefinite shape because of its texture made of shredded coconut while macarons are circular, smooth on both sides and come in varying shades.

Walking in the store feels like heaven both literally and figuratively. You’ll be greeted by posh chandeliers, blue sky painted on the ceiling and all things sweet, pretty and romantic.

Their product offering ranges from spreads and jams to other baubles like keychains and scented candles.

We actually got 6 pieces of macarons placed inside a dainty box: Coffee, Coconut, Vanilla, Orange Blossom, Caramel and Toffee. They are soft and delicate; chewy, melt in your mouth goodness. They are not too sweet for my taste but flavorful enough to enthuse the palate with their generous filling.

You can taste the unique flavor for each of the variants. The downside, they are of the same color so I don’t know which is which until the goodies get in my mouth for me to devour.
The store and their macarons definitely did not disappoint.
